More disaster news

When you look at the pictures of the oil storage depot fire it's difficult to believe that this is the UK now and that we're not looking back at pictures of Iraq, or New Orleans, or the Tsunami, or 7/7, or 9/11.

The amount of crap floating up and blackening the skies is almost literally, awesome. We are already being given warnings that there may be some unpleasant side effects to follow. Watch out for black acidic rain coming down over everything, for example.

But when you look at the sheer volume of hydrocarbon polution that is inundating the sky of Southern England, you do well to remember where it would have ended up otherwise.

In the sky, of course.
