First step towards anti-gravity?
While this project to look for gravitational waves looks like a bit of a Heath Robinison affair, this kind of research is, potentially, epoch-making.
Once you have detected and measured gravitational waves, you can begin the work of developing anti-gravity engines, anti-gravity boots, and, of course, anti-gravity weapons of mass destruction.
Then you can destroy the earth and we can all go back to bed.
On the other hand, if they don't detect any gravitational waves, does that mean Einstein was wrong? And if he was wrong, who is right?
