Apple Shockers

Well, it might not look like it right now, but the pundits and rumourmongers surrounding Apple are reeling, because they were significantly wrong. A lot.

First of all, the new-launch Intel laptop isn't an iBook and it isn't cheap. It's a professional PowerBook killer called the MacBook, and it costs a fecking fortune.

Secondly, there was no revamped Mac Mini.

There are no big displays with built-in computer and HDTV.

There was no new iPod Shuffle with-a-screen.

All four of those things, iBooks, Mac Minis, big screens, and revamped Shuffles, were considered so certain that people were scratching around looking for something that might be a surprise.

Well, the surprise was, they were wrong. New professional laptop, which wasn't expected till mid-year, and a new, Intel, iMac. The MacBook is supposed to be 4x as fast as the old PowerBook, and the iMac is 2x faster than the G5-based model.

But who was right? I was right: garageband, imovie, iphoto, and iweb, all dedicated to letting you photocast, podcast, and vidcast using your .Mac account.

Kerching.

I am available for after dinner speaking, £10k a pop.
