Suspension of Disbelief
It still seems like a crazy idea for Apple to announce a switch to Intel architecture, and to pre-announce a move from 2006/7 seems even crazier when you think that they wouldn't sell any G4 or G5 based hardware to forward thinking people in the meantime. Or would they?
Would there be a run on the last Power PC machines, from Mac bigots who hate Intel as much as they hate Microsoft? As Chuck Berry said, you never can tell.
But reading the Register article, a big penny did drop concerning portables. It's been obvious that G5 processors didn't fit into the notebook format, so Apple are clearly desperate to update that line... and then I suppose the rest might fall into place.
Announcement later on today. I should add that we at Holyhoses Towers think that the wireless networking Intel connection is a far more likely announcement. Possibly a Mac Mini peripheral TV recorder, but not proper computers.
