Hoses of the Holy in the Parallel Universe

Fluctuat nec mergitur

I enjoy a good list of Latin phrases, as much as anyone, and I've spent a happy time or two consulting the Wikipedia list. I've given this blog a nice Latin motto (see top right of page), as well, to lend us a properly scholarly air.

Perhaps my favourite well-known Latin phrase or saying is Lucus a non lucendo, which can be translated as, "The word for grove is lucus because it is not light in a grove." Or, as Wikipedia's list editor would have it: "The light shineth not into the grove."

It's just a pun, really, but has a decent sort of mystery to it. It's the sort of thing you could have a character mutter in some epic. Anyway, pendent opera interrupt.
