gonna have me a time with a poor man's woman
did anyone else see neil diamond in concert on bbc four on friday night? strange bloke. hard to like, as a person, i would have thought. wonder what it's like to be him. to have been neil diamond.
as i was watching, i was put in mind of that complete cunt richard ashcroft. their vocal styles are amazingly similar. i can really do without all that mama stuff.

That's a really interesting comparison, and you're absolutely right.
Richard Ashcroft is a version of Neil Diamond. I'd never noticed before but it is true.

Neil Diamond is one of those people who I hate, seemingly for no reason.
Whenever I think too hard about it I find myself wussing out, thinking "Well a couple of his songs are OK" and have to stop myself.
I try and avoid thinking too hard about Neil Diamond.

the more i watched, the more i became convinced that ra had completely based his "style" on nd.
glad it's not just me who thinks so.

I don't know this Richard Ashcroft you speak of. But that Neil Diamond, with his chest wig, he rubs me up the wrong way. The ladies like him, though, don't they? The ladies? They think he's a diamond geezer.
My favourite ND story is the one about his appearance on The Last Waltz. He does one of his own songs with The Band - one of his anthemic ones - and he's supposed to have walked off stage, brushed past The Dylan, and said, "Follow that, Dylan."
Er... okay. I'll just... hang on, I've got charisma dripping out of every pore, I'll just clean up a bit and get on the stage and just... look out from under my hat... and, as you say, follow that.
